when we said goodbye

it was another cold october day
words couldn't express what i had to say
walking away from you was unbelievably hard
i had to leave the place that left me scarred
all of the memories we shared
not seeing you everyday had me scared
who would take care of you
our family would be there, that i knew
you gave me the gift of life
in turn i caused you much internal strife
i know you did the best you possibly could
teaching me how to love, that you did good
hugging you that last time made me cry
